What Is A Vision Board?

A vision board is a visualization tool that helps you focus on your dreams and goals by using pictures, quotes, inspiring words, and symbols that have meaning for you.

It is at the same time a manifestation board.

The purpose of a vision board is to make your dreams and goals come true by putting pictures of things you want to have or achieve in your life.

Because you look at it regularly, your mind focuses on the things and feelings you put on the vision board, making it your reality.

Since the book The Secret was published, people all over the world started creating and using vision boards.

Some people see more success with it than others.

What Does A Vision Board Look Like?

A vision board or dream board can look however you want it to look.

It includes pictures, inspiring words, quotes, symbols that have meaning to you, and things you want to manifest (attract) into your life and business.

You can create a travel board, a money board, a love board, a business board, a health board, or a board for any area of life you want to improve.

Whatever is important to you can go on your personal vision board.

Most dream boards are a combination of all of the above.

A lot of them come in the form of a poster board, but there are other ways like creating a vision book.

You can put pictures on the board, quotes, inspiring words, affirmations, people you want to meet, your dream house, and symbols for goals you want to achieve.

What I like to do is put various topics, which are important to me, on my vision board. You will learn more about it later, especially how I place things.

Vision Board Or Dream Board?

The term vision board or dream board actually means the same.

Some use their board to make their visions come true (e.g. business vision) or their dream (dream house, dream car, dream partner and relationship,..).

Whatever term you use doesn’t matter.

The intention behind it and what you put on your board is what is important.

Do Vision Boards Work?

Yes, they do, but there are a few things you need to know to make them work well.

How To Make A Vision Board Work

  • CREATE A VISION BOARD THAT SPEAKS TO YOUR HEART

The vision board you make must create some strong emotions in you. Looking at it should make you happy, excited, joyous, grateful and appreciative. Include areas of your life that are important to you right now.

  • BELIEVE IT WORKS

One of the most important things to create a vision board that works is to believe in it. If you doubt that your dreams and desires come true, they won’t. It’s as simple as that.

You have to believe it. Believe that it’s a done deal. Even if your dreams are so big that you have no idea how they ever going to become a reality.

  • FORGET ABOUT IT

If you are a beginner at manifestation and at creating vision boards, looking at your board daily might not be the best idea.

Let me explain why:

If you look at your dream board having this feeling that you still don’t have it, asking yourself when will it show up, or thinking that you want it so badly (but it’s not here yet), you stop yourself from receiving it.

If you focus on ‘I want it,’ you stay in the energy of ‘I don’t have it yet.’

Thinking about something you want (and don’t have yet) keeps you in a vibration of ‘I don’t have it’.

The Universe gives you more of what you focus on.

If you think about I want it, you’re saying at the same time that you don’t have it. And you will never have it.

You have to act like and feel like it’s already yours.

If you can’t act like or feel like it’s yours already, the best thing is to create the vision board, feel like it’s already yours, like it’s a done deal, and then hide it somewhere and forget about it for a while.

Most people will tell you to put the dream board somewhere you can always see it. But if you don’t fully believe in it or have a little doubt about it, it’s better to forget about it.

If you are a powerful manifester already, having your vision board in plain sight can be a good idea, because every time you look at it you know that it’s already yours, and the manifestation of it is on your way.

  • DON’T FOCUS ON THE HOW

It’s not your work to think about and figure out how it will happen. Your job is to figure out what you want = what your dreams and desires are. If you obsess about how it could happen and how it might come to you, you limit the delivery. It might come in a better way than you could ever imagine.

  • OUTSMART YOUR MIND

Another amazing trick is to stick something to your vision board you already achieved or manifested.

Especially if you have doubts about if a vision board is working, this is a great trick for your mind to let it know that all the other things are possible too.

Now that you know what to focus on and what not to do if you want to create a powerful vision board, it’s time to get creative.

  • HIDE IT

In case you don’t want everyone to see what you want to attract into your life (family, friends, visitors, your partner), hide it.

Especially if you have big, crazy dreams others will tell you that they can’t come true.

You don’t want others to influence you in a way that lets you doubt your dreams and wishes and stops you from manifesting.

That’s why I don’t share my vision boards with others.

If you don’t have a problem with it, you can hang it on your wall or put it anywhere you want to.

How To Start A Vision Board / What To Put On A Vision Board

Before you create your board you have to find out what you want. If you are not sure what it is that you really want, I have an exercise that shows you and helps you to find out what you want.

If you already know what you desire, it’s time to create your DIY vision board.

Before we dive into it I want to share with you that I have a free vision board worksheet and template you can use which also shows you what things to put on a vision board so that it actually works.

Vision Board SUPPLY LIST / Materials You Will Need

  1. To create your dream vision board you will need any kind of board, a canvas, a cork board or you can create a vision board poster.
You can also use a journal. This is the basis of your law of attraction vision board.
Personally, I like a portable vision board (in my journal) that I can carry around, especially because I’m traveling frequently.
  2. You will need magazines to cut out pictures, words, and quotes you like or you search for images you want to include online and print them out.
  3. You also need a pair of scissors and glue.
  4. A fun vision board idea is to make it prettier by using washi tape or vision board stickers

After you know what you want to include on the board and have all the materials at hand, it’s time to create a special environment.

Create A Sacred Space

Creating a sacred space doesn’t have to be as woo-woo as it sounds. Just be sure you have some time for this special project. Don’t rush it and try not to be disturbed.

Grab your favorite drink, make yourself space and time, and have fun finding the pictures, words, and quotes you want to include.

Take the magazine cutouts and everything else you want to include and put them on your board.

You can even have your own vision board party where together with your family, friends, or kids you create your vision boards.

How To Make A Vision Board That Really Works: My Secret Sauce

My secret ingredient for creating the best vision board – that no one else teaches – is using the power of Feng Shui.

More than two decades ago, I discovered Feng Shui and was so fascinated by it that I took courses and an education in Feng Shui for homes and businesses.

The principles of Feng Shui are also applicable to creating a powerful vision board.
